Paralympics: Nigeria's Adesokan wins gold, breaks World record

Yakubu Adesokan has won the first gold medal for Nigeria in the on-going Paralympic Games in London.

The 33 year-old did it in style by breaking the world record in the men's 48 category by lifting 178 kg, which is over three times his body weight! Go Yakubu!

Premier League - Team of the Week

Goalkeeper- Ali Al-Habsi, one of the most underrated goalkeepers in the Premier League, the Wigan number 1 is a fantastic shot stopper. Al-Habsi has made mistakes in his career but when he is on form he can make astounding reflex saves and palm away stinging drives. The Oman international was on fine form at St Mary's for an away fixture against Southampton keeping a clean sheet in a 2-0 win. He showed real quality that when in form he can be up there as one of the best goalkeepers on the Premier League stage. The new Nike Maxim ball has been criticised already with only 2 games into the new Premier League season, the question experts are asking does the ball swerve too much leaving goalkeepers at an unfair disadvantage. Federici, Cech and Tim Howard have all had rather uncharacteristic mistakes; Karim El Ahamdi's drive against Everton swerved to the right incredibly late meaning Howard was unable to divert the ball away from goal. Al-Habsi saved several long range efforts against Southampton electing to punch and parry shots rather than attempt to catch them and make a match costing mistake. Al-Habsi thoroughly deserves his place in the team of the week for his performance against Southampton.

Raheem Sterling - The Teenage Sensation

Raheem Sterling has burst onto the scene for Liverpool FC, at just 17 years of age the youngster has already meant veteran Downing has had to switch his role to defensive duties at left back. So, where has this prodigy came from and will he cement himself in the Liverpool team for many years to come or simply drop from the spotlight as many have done before him. Sterling's career didn’t start at Liverpool instead he came through QPR's youth academy, even back then his talents were impressing many in the football world this was the beginning of what looks set to be a fantastic career. The teenager’s talents began attracting interest and in February 2010 Liverpool had an offer accepted for his signature of a small fee of £600,000 but appearances and performance add ons could raise the fee in the region of £5 million. Liverpool FC has a great history of taking raw talents and refining them into brilliant players Owen, Gerrard and Fowler a few of the big names in English and world football. It’s fair to say Sterling had joined a club with an illustrious past and one with big ambition for winning trophies on the greatest stage which at the moment in time has eluded them. Raheem is making a big splash in England so how far can he go?

Sterling stands at 5ft 7in a respectable size for a modern winger, the physicality of the English game is sometimes a stumbling block in smaller player’s careers. This however didn’t stop him excelling in youth and reserve team football for the Reds, the 14th of February "Valentine’s day" saw him enter the hearts of Liverpool fans, the FA youth cup saw Sterling amazingly grab five goals in a 9-0 win. This may only be youth level but 5 goals at any level in the professional game is a fantastic achievement, it showed he was above that level at such a tender age and began featuring in reserve games for Liverpool FC. Kenny Dalglish was in charge of Liverpool when he got his first appearance in the Premier League as a substitute in the 2-1 loss against Wigan Athletic, he received a rapturous applause from the Anfield faithful who were excited to see one of the youngsters rise through the ranks all the way to the first 11. The 4-1 win against Chelsea saw him also come on late in the game as a substitute and could have scored with his first touch on the field highlighting the threat he carries. After Dalglish was sacked as manager Brendan Rodgers came in to replace the Liverpool legend, his emphasis on high wingers and promoting of youth in first team plans was the boost young Raheem needed.

Brendan Rodgers announced his squad that he would be taking on Liverpool's North American tour; Raheem Sterling was included in the list which carried a mixture of youth and experience. The first game played was against Toronto, Sterling came on in the second half and looked alert and his pace was causing problems down the left. Sterling played a major part in the equaliser when he took the ball through the defence and his low shot tricked past the goalkeeper where Adam Morgan was on hand to stab the ball home for his first goal for Liverpool FC. This performance impressed Rodgers and his continuation of form during the pre-season meant the expectation and excitement began to build around the player and whether he would feature in Rodgers plans this season. Liverpool faced FC Gomel in the Europa League qualifier and Sterling made the bench for the fixture, Joe Cole became injured around 20 minutes into the game and Sterling was sent on to replace him. He performed well and the friendly against Bayern Leverkusen saw him start the game and only a few minutes into the game scored his first senior goal, a penetrating run down the left saw him break away from the defence, cutting inside he then speculatively curled the ball into the far corner leaving the keeper no chance. Another Europa League fixture, another start for young Sterling and he didn’t disappoint. Hearts defence was left in fear with Sterling's raw pace and quick feet his Motm performance left fans and pundits speechless how a player so young can have so much maturity and quality to his play. Rodgers was clearly so impressed he took a huge risk to start him in a full Premier League game against defending champions Manchester City. Sterling was not at all phased by the occasion seemingly too young to be afraid and played fantastically, he could have been Motm and in some options was, but Joe Allen on his home debut picked up that accolade.

Sterling is primarily a wide midfielder, his pace, vision and dribbling skills make him a perfect match for the fast paced action of the Premier League. In every game he has played once the ball has arrived at his feet there is only one thing on his mind, taking the defender on. Sterling is not phased who he is up against this showed against City, Toure a highly experienced and top quality centre back however Sterling gave him the run around for 90 minutes. The technique he shows when up against a defender is that of a modern winger he aims to either beat them with speed leaving them behind or tempting them in for a tackle only for his quick feet to shuffle his way past the opponent. The last few games he has appeared in for Liverpool have seen him adapt a persistence to try and side foot and curl the ball rather than strike it with conviction whether this is a personal preference or something he works on in training it sometimes makes him predictable and the shot a lot safer to deal with for the goalkeeper. The youngster has represented England on 3 different youth levels and has impressed similarly there as with his club, scoring 4 goals in total. However internationally his senior career seems unresolved with him eligible to play for England or his native country Jamaica, he is open to the opportunity to play for Jamaica and if reports are to be believed his mother would prefer he turned out in the colours of green black and yellow. I’m sure England fans who have seen the emergence of the starlet would much prefer him to play for the three lions but the choice is up to Sterling alone.

Raheem Sterling looks to already have established himself in Rodgers plans and with his exposure to first team football can only become more refined and mature as a player. He is what Liverpool have lacked for a long time a player with pace who is willing to take on defenders and create something out of nothing, every time the 17 year old gets the ball the Anfield crowd rise expecting a dash of brilliance. The right guidance and tutoring will see him grow into a hugely talented player and with the greats of Gerrard and Carragher gracing the same pitch of him he has role models worthy of any player. A video emerged of the American tour where Rodgers reacted to something Sterling had said and gave the youngster a stern talk, this kind of man management will help keep his feet on the ground and learn and Rodgers appreciates him as a player but also as a person. It’s clear to see Raheem Sterling is talented and if he works hard as he is doing I’m sure there is no limit for the teenager.

What are your opinions on Raheem Sterling and are there any young stars you would like me to write about leave a comment below, thanks.

Naked support for Prince Harry on Facebook

.Attention!

Whatever the royal family and his army superiors may think of his exploits in Las Vegas, many Britons can barely hide their support for Prince Harry, posting naked pictures of themselves on social media in honour of him.
A Facebook group entitled "Support Prince Harry with a naked salute!", featuring people posing in various states of undress saluting the third-in-line to the throne -- has won more than 12,000 members and is still growing.
The group sprang up after Harry, 27, was photographed naked after a game of "strip billiards" during a party in a VIP hotel suite in Las Vegas. The images, first published on a US website, rapidly went viral and caused a furore in Britain.
The response was a flood of images of people saluting while posing in various states of undress, often with strategically placed props including Union Jack flags, camouflage backpacks and teddy bears.

10 tips for better boobs

Eat your way to good health

Multiple research studies have shown that eating certain foods can help to minimize your risk of developing breast cancer. Some foods to add into your diet include yellow/orange fruits and vegetables such as butternut squash as they are packed with antioxidant beta-carotene which has been linked to lowered risk of breast cancer. Flax seeds, walnuts, cranberries and omega-3 fatty acids (found in oily fish, avocados and eggs) have also been linked to reduced risk of breast cancer, while eating foods high in magnesium can help prevent breast swelling and tenderness.

Check your bra size

It is thought that more than 70 per cent of women regularly wear the wrong bra size, yet this can not only lead to significant health problems including poor posture, skin irritation and breathing difficulties, but it can irreversibly damage breast ligaments, leading to breast pain and sagging. Breast size can change frequently over your lifetime due to weight changes, pregnancy or menopause so, rather than guessing your size, make sure you get measured regularly to ensure you are getting the support you need.

KNOWING ERICA

I couldn’t go and Erica Johnson told me the next day that she’d seen Junior with some other girl at the Feathers and when I phoned him up, he was all like, I was never, and so I told him Erica had seen him and he just said, it was nothing, chill, and I told him he was a bastard and that was it I’d had enough of his shit and he was all, don’t be like that girl, and I was like, whatever, and hung up.

I phoned Erica back and she was like, babes I’m sorry, he’s such a wanker, and she said, let’s go out, but I didn’t feel like it and I didn’t have any money anyway and so she said, her parents were out so I could come round hers, but her brother might be there. I said okay and told her I’d be there in half an hour.

Liverpool Vs Manchester City - Preview

Brendan Rodgers takes charge of his first game for Liverpool at Anfield in the league on Sunday and will be looking to make it more enjoyable than his visit to the Hawthorns last Saturday. Roberto Mancini will hope to prove his squad have what it takes to retain the Premier League crown and it doesn’t come much tougher than an away fixture to Liverpool. Brendan Rodgers had a dreadful opening day to the season seeing his side well beaten to West Bromwich Albion, Sunday’s game sees him without star defender Daniel Agger who was suspended after bringing Shane Long down in the box denying a goal scoring opportunity. The performance had positives there were segments of play where they enjoyed much of the ball and created openings, Suarez finishing ability was questionable and will look to redeem himself against City. Manchester City opened their season at home to newly promoted Southampton, it proved to be anything but straight forward having to come from behind to eventually grab all three points. Mancini witnessed his star striker Sergio Aguero stretchered off to a knee injury that wasn’t as bad as first feared but will keep him out for a couple of weeks.

Liverpool- Rodgers will look to get the right balance between attack and defence if he is to get a result against the current champions. Daniel Agger's suspension means Skrtel will be playing alongside Carragher, Coates or Kelly. Carragher will be the most likely to fill in with his experience in big games such as these, I would like to see either of the younger and more energetic Coates or Kelly. The ability both possess isn’t in doubt, they can become top quality Premier League defenders but it could prove to be too high of a risk as we saw with Manchester City's own Stefan Savic. This would suggest Rodgers will go with Carragher, he might not have the pace or ability he had many years ago but Jamie is still a top class defender but this could lead to Liverpool playing much deeper. Sahin has recently signed for Liverpool on a season long loan from Real Madrid however he won’t be available for selection as the deal didn’t go through in time. Liverpool’s options in midfield are plentiful, with Rodgers preferred formation 4-3-3 the three likely to start will be Lucas, Gerrard and Allen. Lucas will operate in the defensive midfield role as is always the case with Allen essentially playing alongside thus allowing Gerrard the freedom to burst forward creating and scoring opportunities. Finally Liverpool's attacking options come with two inverted wingers and a lone striker, Downing and Borini were the wide men against WBA but with the signing of Oussama Assaidi he could be in contention for a start. Assaidi will add raw pace something Liverpool have lacked for many years, Suarez will be deployed as the lone striker and there’s no doubting his trickery and skill make him a dangerous opponent but his finishing has been the downside to his game and will look to rectify that quickly.

Manchester City- They have become a team that fears no opponent but Anfield last season saw them only earn a point after initially taking the lead. Defensively they have the best centre back in the Premier league, Vincent Kompany. There a strong unit and when on top form concede very little and with Joe Hart between the sticks even when the defence is beaten he is there deny the opposition. There midfield will need to stop the possession football Liverpool will look to play, Toure, Nasri, Silva, Rodwell, Barry or Milner the depth they have has an abundance in quality. There creative players will look to open up the Reds defence with through balls in behind the full backs or may try a direct approach straight through the middle with a bursting Toure run. The attacking options at Mancini's disposal are of a much higher quality compared to Rodgers, Tevez, Dzeko and Balotelli are in contention to start on Sunday. Aguero will miss the match and is a big blow to Manchester City his goals helped seal the tile and with one kick of his right foot against QPR he scored the goal that brought the trophy to the Etihad. The two most likely to start up front for Manchester City look to be a rejuvenated Carlos Tevez and with Mancini's seemingly favouritism of Balotelli over Dzeko the Italian will start. They guarantee goals and Tevez is a natural goal scorer given any half chance he can finish with supreme quality, Balotelli on the other hand is young and raw but can create magic from nothing and is growing into an extremely talented footballer.

Key Player- Lucas Leiva, the Brazilian midfielder didn’t have the greatest of starts to his Liverpool career disliked and even booed by Liverpool fans after dismal performances, he is now a vital player and when out during the latter stages of the 2011-2012 season he was sorely missed and Liverpool began to struggle. Lucas will have to be at his best and put in a similar kind of performance he did in the same fixture last time they met in the league at Anfield last season. He can’t allow any of Manchester City's creative player’s time on the ball to pick out passes behind Liverpool's back four, and he will need to keep tight to Toure to stop his runs through the heart of the midfield. He now has Joe Allen alongside him to help out with the defensive duties and play the ball safely and calmly to a team mate to ease the work and pressure on Lucas and the team. In all Lucas is a vital cog in the team and he will need to deliver if Liverpool are to grind out a result against Manchester City.

Key Player- Carlos Tevez, the Manchester City forward had a torrid time last season mostly of his own causing after his controversial decision not to come on a as a sub against Bayern Munich. That’s all behind him now and after the summer breaks he’s back and looks a lean quicker and intelligent footballer that he was renowned for. He will need to get in behind a tough experienced defence that Liverpool will deploy against him. His job is simple score the goals and offer runs to the midfielders who will look to play him through on goal. Tevez is a special player he can score goals when the odds are stacked against him from narrow angles to being out numbered on the counter but he will still manage to find the net. The partnership he has with fellow country and club team mate Aguero is instinctive but he will have to link up with Balotelli or Dzeko and they must click straight away if they are to be successful. Tevez will need all his experience and skill if he is to get on the score sheet at Anfield.

The game looks set to be a cracker with both teams needing a result with city looking to keep the pressure on at the top and Liverpool looking to register their first win in the league and lift them off the bottom.

Neil Armstrong, 1st man on the moon, dies at 82

Neil Armstrong was a soft-spoken engineer who became a global hero when as a steely-nerved pilot he made "one giant leap for mankind" with a small step onto the moon. The modest man, who had people on Earth entranced and awed from almost a quarter-million miles away, but credited others for the feat, died Saturday. He was 82.
Armstrong died following complications resulting from cardiovascular procedures, his family said in a statement. Armstrong had had a bypass operation this month, according to NASA. His family didn't say where he died; he had lived in suburban Cincinnati.
Armstrong commanded the Apollo 11 spacecraft that landed on the moon July 20, 1969, capping the most daring of the 20th century's scientific expeditions. His first words after becoming the first person to set foot on the surface are etched in history books and the memories of those who heard them in a live broadcast.
"That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind," Armstrong said.

Premier League - Team of the Week

Goalkeeper- David De Gea, the United stopper had a brilliant game against Everton on Monday night although his side eventually lost he can be proud of his individual performance. Last season he had a nightmare start to his career at Manchester United poor performance and mistakes that lead to goals meant he lost his place as number 1 in goal for the Red Devils. The first game of the new season has shown what a remarkable amount of growing the keeper has done in the past year, he was renowned for being weak at commanding his area however against Everton he came to clear every ball into his box and took a clattering for Marouane Fellaini showing he’s not afraid to take a bruise for the good of the team. He rightly deserves his position in my team of the week his incredible reflex saves and his commanding of the area showed what a top goalkeeper he can become.

LOLA ( parable of the rich and poor )

This story was written 4 yrs ago...enjoy

Sitting down all alone by herself outside the white house, she was so quiet and unforgiving in her gaze.I knew something was wrong with her but i doubted her willingness to share, however i approached her with a faint hope, thinking 'what are friends for'.Lola is that kind of girl who would keep things bottled up inside her, she's always wary of who she shares things with, including me who is just a new neighbor and we hardly have time to talk, business keep her away from everyone but still everyone envies her.Achieving her feat in Nigeria doesn't go unnoticed,a girl at twenty eight who live in a house of her own and a couple of exotic cars,i bet any girl anywhere in the world would whistle to that.It took us a while to get going, she rejected my friendship gesture when on one Monday morning she had a flat tire and i came off my bike to render some help; 'oh thank you' she said
' i can sort myself out'
'but i can help you get it sorted out' i replied
"Never mind,I'll just park it here and get it done after work,i would go and get a cab'
i was shocked at her refusal to have me help her and i couldn't help watching her lock the car and moving away to go and get a cab,i felt i just made a nuisance of myself so i got back on my bike with my hands shaking and my head almost empty,my pride had just been shattered, i murmured.

The next morning, on my way to 'malam Yaya's shop' to get detergent she packed beside me and thanked me for stopping by the previous day,'it's okay' i said,i almost said Ma to her because her wealth and affluence had overtaken her age and i felt like a pauper around her.
'You stay around here?'
'yes ma,next to the white house' i said. Now i'm very nervous and didn't even bother about addressing her as Ma and she didn't show any sign of surprise herself
"that's my house' she uttered
'where?'
'The white house'
'Oh really? ' now i am beginning to feel so common,'so she owns that beautiful house' i thought to myself
'you could check on me over the weekend, would be nice to have you visit'
'Alright ma' i said, still not out of my nervousness.
'Okay bye'
She drove off,so slow like a snail that i thought i could beat her to wherever she was going if i jogged the miles.I stirred at her slow crawling 2008 RangeRover until she took to the left turning and was out of view, not until then did i realise i hadn't asked for her name and neither did she ask for mine.

That weekend, around 1pm,i put on my finest clothes and went to the white house, the house shares the same fence with my apartment that i could have just jumped the fence to her compound, even though i could get caught in the security wires. She was so happy to see me, 'oh good to see you!' she exclaimed,'what's the name again?'
'Emeka...Emeka Okoli' i said, thinking i should have even added my middle name
'Oh that's good,i'm Lola'
'Nice to meet you Lola' this time i'm feeling more in control of myself
'good...come inside and have your sit'
The house was very quiet and we got talking, till they started the news at 7pm and i had to leave because it was like she had her tv permanently set to E! but i preferred our local stations and news to the fabricated lies those Americans tell us on their TV. I couldn't tell her i was leaving because i felt she should dictate my departure,so i was deep rooted in the seat till 7:45pm when the news would have definitely ended.
'I should take my leave now' i exclaimed
'Oh it's alright,it's been nice having you around, always feel free to visit'
'Alrght Lola'
She saw me off to the gate and said goodnight, which i returned back. That was the beginning of our friendship which never appreciated nor depreciated, sometimes it felt more like we were just neighbors than friends but i am at least happy to be her friend or may be a neighbour.

So seeing her in front of the white house,in such an unsatisfactory mood,i couldn't help but come down from my bike 'what's wrong?' i asked
'nothing' she answered reluctantly
'you need to convince me more to believe that'
'Nothing Emeka' she exclaimed, raising her voice to such an extent that i thought everyone in the neighborhood heard her.
'Ok then'
I stoodd up to take my leave, thinking she would call me back but she never did, that night, i went to bed thinking what must have gone wrong with her,i asked myself several questions but couldn't find a definite answer to any.I didn't get to see her for  eight days afterward and the last time i saw her she was in company of a group of well suited men and one light tall lady, all dressed in black suit except for the lady who was putting on a grey suit. They were just coming out of the white house and she wasn't putting on a good look still and i just walked  pass without saying hello to her, though she looked at me but swiftly dropped her face,to avoid my eye contact.

Two days after,i got back home very excited, i'd been promoted at work to the sales executive,a promotion i didn't think i merited because there were several long serving sales personnel who had dreamt of taking that position but i heard the promotion was carried out on the basis of hardwork and commitment rather than number of years spent at work,so it was a really happy day for me,so i took some time planning on my new budget and for the first time;considering buying a DSTV,' i can do with the fabricated lies now' i thought. That night i got a letter from my 'facemeifaceyouneighbor'
'The madam for the white house say make i give you this' she said in pidgin
'okay, thanks, when she bring am?' i asked inquisitively
'this afternoon'
'okay thanks Favour, tell your mama say i go come see her tomorrow morning before i go work, to drop my own share of the Nepa bill'
'Okay' ...she left
I was so eager to read the letter but first i had my dinner and took a cold bath,so while i was lying on the bed i unfolded it and read the content. For a second i was traumatized,i couldn't believe what i was reading...Lola had been thrown out of the white house because she took a loan from the bank which she couldn't pay back, she had traveled down to Ibadan to stay with a friend of hers whose location she didn't disclose. That night i slept with mixed feelings, excitement of my promotion and disappointment of Lola's predicament,i thought to myself,so the rich also cry and as the candle in my room melted out and i was sweating profusely on the bed,i thought out loud....I NEED TO GET A GENERATOR

Looser Of Everything

Priscilla! Priscilla !Priscilla! and his voice intensified, it was like he was screaming at the top of his voice and when he almost lost his voice he made an horrible sound with his throat like he had accumulated thick saliva and the sound of spit followed. I could have answered but i was far away in the visitor's room down stairs and if you knew the way our house was built you wouldn't be surprised at my silence and race towards his voice. I slipped on the stairs but i picked myself up quickly and made for the Veranda upstairs, didn't even bother pausing just made my way in like a pursued person.
' you called me'
‘yes i did’ he answered quiet rudely and supported his response with a clap on my right cheek, before i could rub it another landed on my left.'You must be stupid, how dare you make me stress my voice'
'I'm sorry, was cleaning the visitor's room'
'Shut up' he screamed, molesting my cheek again with another slap, tears came down my eyes in a slow movement and my voice trembled. I couldn't say anything again, I would rather keep quiet than say something and get a slap consolation.
'Now go inside and pick those clothes, and get them washed and ironed before I get back tonight'
I turned and left, not minding the stirring gaze of onlookers who were walking up or down the street. I started thinking of what might have been going through the minds of those onlookers.
Five years ago, when I accepted his proposal to marry him, mom had warned against jumping into marriage, I was just 23 then and Donkey had been my best suitor, he had everything a girl could ask for, a house of his own, fleet of cars, a thriving business and he had gotten all these just at the age of 28.Many times mom would call me into her bedroom and talked to me for hours, to buttress her point she would say sarcastically 'what sort of man goes by Donkey' but I was always less worried or moved by that because I had worried about that too initially until he told me it was his baptismal name, that he chose it because Donkeys are honourable animals and that was why Jesus asked for a Donkey to be brought to the gate of Jerusalem on his entrance to the city. I thought it was stupid but I never questioned him, instead I spent many times flattering him as the most honourable man in the world. He was a sweet man till we got married and he was also religious, we never had sex prior to our wedding on the ground that it was unholy, 'a desecration of the human body called God's temple' he would say. I thought that was orthodox but I never questioned him, so I slept a lot of my nights away from him and when we got together, the highest we would go was a kiss and we would spend the whole day or weekend talking about relevant and irrelevant things. Sometimes I would fantasise on how lovely it would be to have him kiss the back of my neck, or caress me, or just make me feel warm but it was never going to be.
On the night of our wedding, we spent the whole night in bed and in the morning, I thought he had the greatest fun of his life but he turned to me and called me a whore. I felt bad and when I questioned him he just turned his back and slept off. The next morning he woke me up with a spank and when I told him never to do it again he responded with a slap which I was quick enough to cover with my hand but I wasn't fast enough to escape the second attempt. I was stuck in trauma and quietly left the room. During breakfast he said we wouldn't be going on honey moon and that I should move my things away from his room, down to the room downstairs beside the visitors room, he kept the room upstairs for our unborn kids. I left the dinning table immediately and went to the kitchen to place a call to his sister and told her about all that was happening. In response, she said I should just heed to him that Donkey has always had a bad temper, 'a bad temper?' I thought aloud, that was the first time I was hearing that,he had pretended so well all through our courting days and his family had said so many beautiful things about him before our wedding but to hear that strange couple of words really broke my heart. I cut the phone without making further comments and made my way back upstairs, thinking in my head, those heart breaking couple of words....Bad Temper.
So that morning, a day after our second wedding anniversary, when I got the regular routine slaps and I left for his room to pack his clothes for laundry, I thought to myself, this must end somehow, someday. So I picked his clothes up and made my way out of the house to wash them. He left the house not quite long and I had enough time to think about my plan of action, it wasn't an easy thing to do as I was already carrying his third baby after losing two pregnancies to his usual animalistic brutality.

Two weeks after, I was lying helplessly on the hospital bed, though much better than the previous day when I was bleeding furiously. I had travelled to Jos from Lagos after my atrocity and had come to flush out the baby in my womb, the last memory of Donkey. The doctor had told me that morning that I suffered complications during the termination and they had to remove my womb. I had been in comma all night and just when I woke up I saw a couple of thin looking men dressed in tattered black uniform beside my bed and one of them said:
"Mrs Priscilla Duncan, you are hereby arrested for the murder of Mr. Donkey Duncan who was stabbed to death in his apartment last week Tuesday, you have the right to remain silent or anything you say here might be used against you in the court of Law".
I sobbed

GREENLAND

I hate proud and pompous people especially celebrities, having spent a reasonable part of my life at the Queen’s Shed Cafe in North London, I’ve met several local and international celebrities who have an overdose of such stupendous idiosyncrasy. One morning during the winter, a tall white dude came into the shed, he was very tall that he had to bend his long neck to pass through the door post and despite the weather the paparazzi were all over the place, taking several pictures, some were standing, some kneeling, some were taking pictures from their cars while some just stood, frozen and shivering with their cameras in their hands and in anticipation of a new move by this tall dude. Well, he sat just beside the chimney and ordered for a cup of coffee and classic bourbon creams, a lady came in almost immediately and sat on the same table with the white dude, she looked quite older and sophisticated, i tried to steal a glimpse at what car she brought but it was already a festival outside, with press men and camera men all around the place.

"Hey! Another cup of coffee" he called out to me, and without wasting time I went straight and brought the coffee,’ more classic bourbons for my lady'' he said again and I went back and got them immediately

'Have this..."he said, stretching out a 5 pounds note

‘‘Keep the rest...have a life with it, or you want this?'' (Raising a toy banana key holder)

‘‘Oh...thanks'' I replied, feeling rather disgusted, what sort of life would I have with 2 pounds and what’s the banana gesture for? I thought rather aloud while the whole pressmen and camera men listen

'You said something'' he asked

‘‘Oh no, not at all''

My shyness wouldn't keep stopping me from speaking my mind; I just wished I could lambast him for uttering that phrase. Well, i have a clue of what it is to be an attendant in one of the traditional cafes in London. Things are more different here though, four years ago I was a business owner in Beijing and everything was near perfect, starting up an African cane chair room, but the dream life didn't last for long, because i had a big problem identifying Chinese debtors, Chinese people are like photocopies of themselves and yet they look like originals of several photocopies, so several times i accused the wrong people and often times i got carted away in the police van. Life in Greenland is often like that, that was what my friend told me and I kept wondering when Greenland would be my homeland. In the summer of the same year I left the debris of my life in Beijing and went to the east. Russia is one of the places you want to visit before you leave the world, saw a beautiful Moscow from the moment I stepped at the airport and i had thought of seeing several other places like the Valley of Geysers and Baikal Lake someday, but from the moment i stepped on Lipetsk Airport I had wondered if there was anything better in Moscow than the first sight you behold. Racism was at its peak and everyone seemed uninterested talking to blacks, at a point I thought it must be hidden somewhere in their constitution not to ever be attentive to a black man but out of two evil one is better, the weather in Russia was worse, so I never worked before I left, always busy shivering at a chimney-less house that i got for the price of a 14 inches Macbook, just for a month.

London is more interesting though, everything works for the government here, at the detriment of yourself, the tax might just be a three alphabet word but it could  take a man from hero to zero, that’s why i just have to swallow my pride in the face of it all. I’ll face the meanest of insults and racial abuse just to own a living and pay my share of tax. I met uncle Fidelis two months ago along Fulham road and pleaded with him to accommodate me in his house but he told me what I’ve always heard since i got to London 'This is London my brother, everyone for himself’. Well, it's true everyone for himself, because i can't see myself accommodating anyone now that i have an apartment with a low income out of which that little devil called TAX would evolve. I ask myself sometimes, how do i go back home after these many years in Greenland without having anything to show for it, anything in this context is lots of millions to build a house, buy properties, acquire a car and raise your standard above your peers, that’s everything in the Nigerian context. Everyone believes Greenland is a goldmine, that’s why everyone struggles to get out of their homeland and they would sleep over at embassies just to get an interview to leave Nigeria, to leave their home for the battlefield, they believe the white man's land is a sure bet to riches but people like me and my friend, Uzodinma, who voluntarily showed up for deportation after frustration think otherwise.

So after the tall white man's racial insult, i did my usual, went into the convenience room and came back with my soaked handkerchief, insults like that make me cry, just as I got back in, Ms. Shelley noticed my red eyeballs and came over to console me, she never bothered to ask what happened because it all happened right in her presence as she fancied sitting at the Cafe like a customer, flipping through pages of newspapers, by this time Ms. Shelley identified the man as Mark Coster Ray, the popular British cricketer. I am not a cricket fan so to me his name was more popular than his face. Ms. Shelley said life in the Cafe is a life of insult and she has had her share of it despite changing her name to Shelley from Adaora. Mark stood up with his woman and left the Cafe while all the pressmen didn't bother to come to me for  any interview,  I am so irrelevant in London' ,I think.

The next morning my photograph appeared in the Newspaper for the first time in my life, alas for the wrong reason, there were several newspapers with pictures of me collecting money from Mark with an unbelievable smile and different weird headlines...Mark tips Queen's attendant, British Mark helps soul brother, Mark the giver...
"For God sake, where is Mark's fucking statement and the banana?" Ms. Shelley screamed as she read one of the photo-shopped papers.
